Description
The British Queen Public House is a public house located on Meldreth High Street, dating from the early and late 17th century, with remodeling in the early 19th century. The building is timber framed and plaster rendered, featuring a steeply pitched tiled roof with red brick stacks at the eastern part. The later 17th century section to the west has a low pitch slate roof with a white brick stack. It is a single range with its end facing the road and stands two storeys high. The first floor has three casement windows, while the ground floor has four casement windows and two doorways that lead to lobby entries. There are also two 19th century casements in the gable end. Inside, the building features stop-chamfered 17th century joists and a main beam in the bay facing the road, along with plaster rendered jambs of the inglenook hearth.
