Description
No. 82 High Street is a house that now functions as both a residence and a shop. It dates from around 1700, with some alterations made in the early 19th century. The building is timber-framed and covered in painted brick, topped with a half hipped plain tiled roof. There is a tall red brick rectangular stack located to the left of the center of the building.
The structure has two storeys and is divided into three 'bays', with a side passage on the north side. A notable feature is the fine wooden doorcase, which includes rusticated jambs, a fanned key block, a pulvinated frieze, and a pediment. The door itself has four upper raised and fielded panels, along with a lower panel featuring a cross pattern.
To the right, there is a 20th-century shop window that has replaced a twelve-paned hung sash window and a smaller shop window. On the left side, there is a twelve-paned recessed hung sash window, along with three similar windows on the first floor.
