Description
42 High Street is a late 16th-century building that has been altered. It has two storeys and features three windows. The roof is modern and tiled, with a red brick ridge stack. The structure is timber framed, displaying half-timbering on the first floor front, and has a modern stack on the ground floor. The first floor has modern three-light windows with diamond-leaded glazing. On the east return gable wall, there is an original three-light sash window with mullions and modern leaded glazing. The first floor front jetties out and is supported by modern brackets that carry a carved bressumer. The ground floor has modern shop windows and a doorway. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 58 to 44 (even).
