Description

Corner Cottage is a mid-17th century cottage located in Abbot's Ripton, Wennington. The building is timber framed with plaster rendering, and features a half-hipped thatched roof with long straw. A ridge stack has been rebuilt using gault brick. The cottage is one storey high with an attic, including a dormer on the garden side. The front features two enlarged openings with modern casements, flanking a baffle entry doorway. A small pantry window is situated at the road end. The interior includes an exposed 17th century ceiling frame, with a stop-chamfered beam above the hall/kitchen inglenook, featuring run-out stops. A detached wash-house is located at the rear and is timber framed with a tiled roof.
