Description

Red House is an 18th-century building located on Market Hill. It stands three storeys tall and is constructed of red brick with stone dressings. The building features a moulded cornice below the parapet and has five windows with moulded architraves, although two of these on the top floor are merely recesses. The entrance is marked by a doorway that includes pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice topped with a blocking course. A plaque at the first floor level notes that Walter Theodore Watts-Dunton lived here for many years. Red House is part of a group with the Robin Hood Public House.
