Description

This is a row of eight tombstones located three metres east of the chancel of the Parish Church of St Nicholas. They date from the 18th century and early 19th century and are made of limestone. The tombstones feature segmental or shaped heads that are intricately carved with angel heads and clouds, adorned with swags of fruit, flowers, and drapes. The inscriptions, some painted in black, are on raised plaques that come in oval, round, or diamond shapes. The tombstones are identified as a-h from south to north, with a-g representing members of the Addison family and h representing John Fox. These tombstones are notable examples of 18th-century memorials found to the south and east of the Parish Church.
