Description

Gable Thatch is a house dating from the early 17th century, with 20th-century additions and alterations. It features a timber frame with plastered infill and painted brick. The roof is half hipped and thatched, with a ridge stack located to the right of the center. The building has one storey and an attic, consisting of four original timber-framed bays. On the left side of the six-panelled door, there are two 20th-century three-light casement windows, and to the right, there is a bay window. An eyebrow casement window is also present. Inside, there are back-to-back stone hearths with mantel beams. Historical documents include an estate map of the Manor of Glatton by John Hausted from 1623 and an estate map for William Wells from 1770.
