Description
The Willows is a cottage dating from the early 17th century, with later alterations from the 18th or 19th century. It features a timber frame that is plastered, with replacement brick walls that are painted. The cottage has a half hipped thatched roof and a central brick ridge stack. It is one storey with an attic and retains its original two-unit plan, although there is a 20th-century rear outshut. The entrance has a boarded door located in a lobby entry, topped by a segmental brick arch. There are two 20th-century casement windows, each with 19th-century segmental brick arches, and two eyebrow casement dormer windows. Inside, there is a rebuilt back-to-back hearth that originally included a baking oven. Historical documents include an estate map of the Manor of Glatton by John Hausted from 1613 and another estate map for William Yells from 1770.
