Description
White Roses is a cottage dating from the early 17th century, with later alterations and a 20th-century addition. It features a timber-framed structure that is plaster rendered and painted brick. The roof is half hipped and thatched, with a brick stack that was rebuilt in the 20th century. The cottage has one storey and an attic, originally designed with a two-unit plan and a lobby entrance to the central stack. There is a 20th-century open thatched porch, and the casement windows on either side have segmental arches. Inside, you will find stop-chamfered ceiling beams and a back-to-back hearth that once included a baking oven, along with a staircase located at the rear. Historical maps from 1613 and 1770 provide context for the Manor of Glatton and its estate.
