Description
Nos 1, 2, and 3 Chapel Lane are 18th century cottages located in Houghton and Wyton. They feature a rear outshut and are constructed with a timber frame and rough-cast render. The left gable end is made of gault brick. The cottages have a plain tiled roof with an end stack and a ridge stack, and they stand two stories tall. There are three windows on the first floor, one of which has original leaded lights, and three windows on the ground floor. The ground floor includes two doorways, with the left-hand doorway featuring a shouldered architrave, a narrow pulvinated frieze, and a dentilled cornice.
Inside, there is an 18th century fireplace on the ground floor with a shouldered surround and a dentilled cornice, along with flanking cupboards that have panelled doors. The main beam is boxed with a panelled soffit. To the left of the cottages is an adjoining barn that is timber-framed, weather-boarded, and has a rendered gable end, also with a plain tiled roof.
