Description

The Memorial Shelter and Clock Tower in Houghton, dated 1902, was built in memory of G W Brown by Mr Whymper. This open shelter features a square plan supported by oak posts and braces at the corners, topped with a hipped thatched roof. The central clock tower has an octagonal shaft made of red brick and includes a clock with two dials, a hipped cap, and a finial. The builder was G Page of Buckden, and the clock was made by J R Ingram from St Ives.
