Description

No. 4 Market Hill is a building from the 18th century that was refaced in the early 19th century. It has two storeys and is constructed of painted brick with a slated roof. The building features one window that has a modern architrave and glazing bars, while the ground floor has a modern shop front. Inside, there are late 17th century ceiling beams with decorated stop-chamfered spine beams. This building is included for its group value with Nos. 3 to 5, the Free Church, and the Golden Lion Hotel.
