Description
Nos 23 to 29 on St Mary's Street are mid 19th century cottages and shops. This irregular two-storey range features two and three windows each, with slated roofs and constructed from gault brick. The ground floor of No 27 is painted with a mosaic design. The buildings have gauged flat and segmental brick arches above recessed sash windows that include glazing bars. There are recessed doorways with panelled doors; No 25 has a semi-elliptical goods entrance, while No 27 has an arched goods entrance. No 23 features a wooden shopfront with a cornice, and No 27 has a wooden shopfront with Doric pilasters supporting an entablature. These buildings are included for their group value with Nos 23 to 33 and No 41.
