Description
The New Crown is a public house, likely built in the late 18th century or early 19th century, with some repairs made around 1840. The building features a painted brick front wall, with a gable end that was repaired in the 20th century. It has a thatched roof made of reed, which is hipped to the right side, and an end stack. The structure is two storeys tall and has two hung sash windows, with their heads flush with the eaves. There are segmental arches above two larger hung sashes, each of which includes margin lights. The doorway is set in a round-headed arch. At the rear, there is an adjoining house from around 1840, constructed of brick with a slate roof. This house is also two storeys high and features two flush frame 20th-century windows on the first floor, along with two sixteen-pane hung sashes in segmental arches on either side of a central doorway that is now blocked.
