Description

WISBECH ALEXANDRA ROAD TF 4609 6/2 Angles Theatre GV II

Built as a theatre in 1793. Local brown brick; hipped slate roof. Modern C20 lean-to linking theatre building to north- east boundary wall. Two storeys with basement. Gable facing south-east has one large eight-paned window and stage door entrance with boarded door approached by steps. Basement door boarded, in segmental brick arch. Metal plates survive indicating positions of scenery. C18 boundary wall has a stone plaque facing passageway saying it replaces an earlier wall to the Castle. Wisbech Society Annual Report, 1950.
