Description

The Palace is a house dating from the early to mid 18th century. It was once used by the Bishop of Ely as lodging during visits to the parish. The building is constructed of local buff bricks and features hipped plain tile roofs with a tall side stack on the southeast. It has two storeys, an attic, and a basement, with a shallow L-plan and a modern extension to the northwest. The original structure consists of two bays, with two tall casement windows on both the first and ground floors, all set in gauged brick segmental arches. A sun fire insurance plaque is also present. Inside, there is an original closed string staircase with turned balusters that rises in short flights to the attic floor.
