Description
No. 47 High Street is a house and shop originally built in the early 17th century with a two-unit plan and lobby entry. It was extended to the north in the early 19th century. The building features a rendered timber-frame structure with a painted brick wall on the north-west side. It has a hipped red pantile roof, along with a red brick ridge stack and a rear stack. The building stands two storeys high and has three casement windows on the first floor. The shop is located on the left side and includes two small shop windows flanking a half-glazed 19th-century door with a moulded wooden architrave. There is a similar architrave on the boarded door to the right, which is accompanied by a canted bay window with glazing bars. Inside, the property has sealed inglenook hearths and boxed axial beams.
