Description

The Swaffham Bulbeck War Memorial is located prominently on Stocks Green in the village. It features a relatively short Celtic cross made of rough-hewn Cornish granite, which is set on a tapered plinth that rests on a short granite base. The entire structure is elevated on a two-stepped lime concrete base. The front of the plinth is smoothly dressed and bears the inscription: "IN HONOURED MEMORY OF PARISHIONERS WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918 (15 NAMES) THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE." Below this, the granite base is chamfered to display the dates 1939-1945 and includes three additional names of men who died in the Second World War.
