Description

No. 21 Lode Road is a cottage originating from the 17th century that was remodeled in the 20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with plaster rendering and a thatched roof made of reed. The ridge stack has been rebuilt in the style of the 17th century, showcasing grouped shafts on a square base. The cottage has a two-bay plan with a lobby entry and is one storey high with attics. There are four windows, including three 20th-century horizontal sliding sashes. The door, also from the 20th century, is located in its original position opposite the stack. Inside, the floor of the right-hand bay has been removed, the inglenooks have been rebuilt, and a small wing has been added at the rear. The cottage is included for its group value.
