Description

The Church of St James is a parish church consisting of a nave and chancel, built in 1853 by the architect Rhode Hawkins. The Fairhaven chapel was added around 1950. The church is constructed from coursed clunch with limestone dressings and features a tiled roof, which includes a gabled bell-cote at the west end. The south side of the nave has four bays, one containing a lancet window and two featuring two-light windows with traceried heads. There is an open-sided south porch made of wood, set on a clunch base with a stone sill. The chancel is highlighted by an east window with three lights and a foiled head.
