Description
4, 5, and 6 Trinity Street are two shops with living spaces above, built in 1850. They are constructed of red brick with some blue-brick patterns and have plain tiled roofs. The buildings rise three storeys with an attic and feature a six-window arrangement. On the ground floor, there are two shop display windows separated by a panelled door that leads to the upper chambers. Number 4 has a double-fronted plate-glass display window from 1850, with paired brackets on either side supporting a moulded cornice above a 20th-century fascia board. Number 6 has a mid-20th-century plate-glass display window. The first floor has six 2-light cross casements, with three on the right featuring cast-iron balconies. All windows have stone surrounds. The second floor contains six 2-light casements and three single-light casements in the attic, each set within a gable that has prominent cusped wavy bargeboards. There are central transverse ridge stacks. The north elevation displays the date 1850 beneath a two-storey timber oriel window, which has two tiers of single-light casements and a pierced wavy bargeboard. The interiors of the ground floors have been converted to shop display areas. This building is part of a very significant group in Trinity Street and is included for its group value.
