Description

The Grove is a building dated 1814, located on Huntingdon Road. It has been altered and enlarged in the late 19th century. The exterior is faced in grey gault brick with stone dressings, likely over red brickwork that can still be seen in the cellars. The building is two storeys high, with some parts having cellars and attics. The original northeast and northwest fronts are symmetrical. The northeast front features a central recessed entrance with plain Doric columns and a stone lintel, flanked by recessed sash windows with segmental heads. There are plain windows above, while the northwest front has a central bay that rises through both storeys, otherwise resembling the northeast front. A plat band is present at the first-floor level, along with paired dentils and a timber eaves cornice. Inside, there is an original staircase and some fireplace surrounds. The roofs are low pitched and covered with slate.
