Description
Mafeking Cottage is a Grade II listed building located at No 125 Church End, Cherry Hinton. Originally constructed as two cottages, it features two different building phases; the south-west half dates back to the 16th century, while the north-east half is likely from the 17th century. The structure is timber-framed and has modern rendering. It has a first-floor overhang on the left side and displays chamfered ceiling beams and exposed wall posts inside. The cottage stands two storeys tall with three windows on the ground floor and two on the first floor, all of which are modern replacements, including sashes and casements, with one window in a Gothic style. The doors are also modern, featuring one made of planks and another with panelling dating to around 1600. The cottage is topped with a thatched roof and has end stacks. Notably, the front of the building is marked with "Mafeking Cottage 1901."
