Description
The Stores is a 15th-century house and shop located on the west side of High Road in Horndon-on-the-Hill. The building features a timber-framed structure that is plastered and partially weatherboarded, topped with a red plain tile roof. It has two storeys and includes two early 18th-century double hung vertical sliding sash windows with glazing bars at the southern end, along with an original 18th-century door that has been incorporated into a modern shop front. The southern end also showcases modern "exposed timber" at the first floor. The northern range reveals the original frame at the first floor and has three double hung vertical sliding sash windows with glazing bars. The south side features a long wall jetty and is weatherboarded, while gabled wings are present at the rear. Inside, much of the original frame is still visible, including a simple crown post roof.
