Description

The dollowing building shall be added to the list:- TF 0205 WOTHORPE -

32/10001 Cockpit about 60m SW of Wothorpe Towers - II Cockpit. Circa late C18. Coursed limestone rubble with limestone dressings. Lean-to inside red brick with lacing timbers and slate lean-to roofs. Octagonal on plan with doorway on north west and south east sides, lean-to outshuts against inner sides of perimeter wall and circular cockpit at centre. Single storey. Segmental-headed doorway on north west and opposite SE side with plank doors and small segmental-headed flanking windows with iron grilles. Similar windows on other sides. Brick lean-to outshuts inside against walls with wooden lacing; the north west with fireplace, the south east with what look like remains of nesting boxes. Circular pit at centre with stone rubble revetments.
