Description
The former Cockpit, now a cowhouse, dates from the mid to late 17th century and has undergone some later rebuilding. It is constructed from coursed and uncoursed limestone rubble, red brick in various bonds, and features a pyramidal shingled roof. The building has an octagonal plan and includes a short linking block to the Red House Farmhouse. It is a single storey structure with boarded loft doors on the north and north-west sides, a two-leaf boarded door on the north, and various blocked openings. The linking block is made of red brick and rubblestone with a slate roof, featuring a boarded door on the first floor to the right and two boarded doors on the ground floor to the left. Inside, there are two large beams and a cross beam ceiling.
