Description
The Firs is a house dating from around 1600, with remodelling that occurred in the mid to late 19th century. It features a timber frame with painted brick nogging and is stuccoed on the south side. The roof is slate, with a catslide over a partial outshut at the rear. The building has a lobby entrance plan consisting of four framed bays, oriented east-west and facing south. It is 1½ storeys tall, with square panels in the framing. There is a large rendered external end stack on the left and a ridge stack above an off-centre door on the right. The front has three gabled semi-dormers, each with 2-light 20th-century casements, bargeboards, and finials. The front also features three windows with mid to late 20th-century casements. A gabled porch, located beneath the off-centre stack on the right, has pierced bargeboards, a finial, and a 20th-century door. Inside, the central ground floor room boasts moulded beams and joists.
