Description
The Powis Arms is an inn located in Lydbury North, dating from the 18th century and largely rebuilt in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features a hipped slate roof with a catslide over the west wing. The building has three storeys and is characterized by paired brick stacks positioned off-ridge to both the left and right.
The facade consists of three bays with wooden segmental-headed casements, including 2- and 3-light windows, the ground floor windows having a thin transom. A central entrance features a six-panelled door with a segmental-headed four-part overlight, accessed by two flights of steps. There are one-storey lean-to extensions flanking the entrance, with the left side featuring a 3-light casement and the right side having a boarded door.
On the west front, there is a projecting two-storey wing beneath the catslide roof, which also has three bays with glazing bar sashes. The left-hand return front has three steps leading up to a 20th-century glazed door.
