Description
The gateway and walls to a rectangular enclosure, located to the north-east, east, and south-east of Wothorpe Hall, date from the early 17th century. The walls are made of coursed stone rubble and rise to about 18 feet in height at the south-east end. On the north-east side, there is an ashlar gateway featuring a moulded architrave, a cornice, and a high stepped gable that includes oval and circular openings. There are round arched niches on either side of the gateway, each topped with a cornice. The walls have undergone later repairs on all sides except for the south and south-east sides.
