Description

This is a pair of late 19th-century houses, numbers 8 and 9, located within the precincts. They have undergone later alterations. The houses are constructed of yellow brick with stone dressings. Number 9 is two storeys high, with attics and a basement. It features a gabled semi-dormer window with two lights. Above this is a two-light sash window, and below a four-light mullion window. A canted stone bay window with a tile roof is positioned to the right, beneath another four-light window. A panelled door is set within a round-arched moulded stone architrave with dripmoulds, flanked by two four-light transom and mullion windows above. Steps lead to the door, with an iron handrail. Number 8 is similar in design, but with a two-storey canted bay window, topped with a semi-dormer. The houses are part of a group that includes the Great Gate, the Chapel of St Thomas, an archway to Dean’s Court, and numbers 1 to 10.
