Description
The Lodge is a cottage located on the Shuttleworth estate, dated 1879 as indicated by a plaque featuring the Shuttleworth emblem. It is likely a reworking of an earlier structure. The building is constructed with colourwashed roughcast over a timber frame and features applied timber frame decoration. The roof is made of clay tiles, with bands of fishscale tiles, ridge cresting, and finials.
The cottage has a two-room plan and consists of one storey with attics. On the southeast elevation, there are two three-light cast iron lattice casements flanking a 20th-century glazed door, which is sheltered by a sloping tiled hood. An integral gable end stack is located on the right-hand side. The rear elevation includes a gabled dormer with a five-light lattice casement and simple moulded bargeboards. A 20th-century block connects the house to an outbuilding to the north.
