Description

Sunbeam Cottage is an estate cottage dating to 1775, with restoration work carried out in 1860, as indicated by a plaque. The cottage is built of red brick with a clay tile roof featuring decorative fishscale tiles. It has a two-room plan and includes a first floor attic space. The ground floor features two two-light windows with cast iron lattice glazing, set beneath cambered heads. The attic is lit by two gabled dormers, each containing similar windows and pierced bargeboards. A central gabled brick porch has a four-centred arched head framing the entrance, with smaller arched windows to the sides, and a plank door. Yellow brick moulded cornices are present on both the main house and the porch. The cottage has two integral red brick gable stacks, incorporating decorative mouldings and a band of yellow bricks to the cornice. An outbuilding constructed of red brick, is attached to the right-hand gable end.
