Description
No. 142 on Warden Street is an estate cottage built in 1775, with restoration work completed in 1860 by Samuel Whitbread. The cottage is constructed of red brick and features a clay tile roof adorned with bands of fishscale tiles. It has a two-room layout, with one storey and attics. On the ground floor, there are two 2-light cast iron lattice casements set under cambered heads. The attic includes two gabled dormers that have similar windows and plain bargeboards. A central gabled brick porch provides access, featuring a 4-centred arched entrance and side windows. The house and porch are accented with yellow brick moulded cornices. There are two integral red brick gable end stacks that have decorative mouldings and a band of yellow bricks at the cornice. Additionally, there is a yellow brick outbuilding located at the right gable end.
