Description

This is an early 19th-century house, with the ground floor later converted into a shop. It is located on the corner of The Square and Bedford Road in Aspley Guise. The house is constructed of red and yellow chequered brick, with a slate roof. The front facade is three bays wide and extends over two storeys and attics. The ground and first-floor windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set in shallow reveals. The ground-floor windows have gauged brick flat heads. Two box dormers containing two-light casement windows with glazing bars are set into the roof. A central brick porch contains a six-panel door, sidelights and a rectangular fanlight. A late 19th-century double-fronted shop projects from the left-hand side. Integral red brick stacks are located at both gable ends. The building is included on the list for its group value.
