Description
Ivy Cottage and Lime Cottage are a pair of houses from the late 18th century, located on West Hill in Aspley Guise. The right-hand property, Ivy Cottage, is slightly broader than its neighbor. Both houses are constructed of red brick, featuring a diamond pattern created by vitrified headers, and they share a slate roof. Each house has a three-window facade, is two storeys tall, and includes attics. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, with the ground floor windows set under gauged brick heads. There are four box dormers, each containing two-light casements with glazing bars. The window surrounds are adorned with reeded pilasters that support moulded cornice hoods. The doorway of Lime Cottage, on the left, is topped by blind windows. A brick band runs at first floor level, and there is a moulded timber eaves cornice. Various red brick chimney stacks are located at the ridge and gable ends.
