Description

The School House is a building from the earlier 18th century, likely a reworking of an earlier structure. It is constructed of red brick, with some timber framing visible on the rear gable. The roof is covered in clay tiles and is hipped at the northeast corner, featuring sprocketed eaves. The building has an L-plan and consists of two storeys. The front elevation is asymmetrical with irregular window placement. There are four flush sash windows with glazing bars on each floor, with the ground floor windows set under cambered heads. Flanking the entrance door are two narrow sashes with thick early glazing bars. The door itself is part-glazed and is surrounded by a simply moulded architrave. A 20th-century pedimented open porch supported by panelled piers and pilasters with urn decorations leads to the entrance. The right-hand side elevation features a six-fielded-panel door and two flush sashes with glazing bars. An adjoining single-storey outbuilding is located at the rear gable, and there is a red brick ridge stack.
