Description

The Cottage is a 17th-century house located on Biggleswade Road, Potton. It is built with a timber frame and has roughcast render and a thatched roof. The house has a two-room plan, consisting of one storey and attics. On the ground floor, there are two sash windows with glazing bars. The attic has two gabled dormers, each containing a two-light casement window with glazing bars. The slightly off-centre doorway is accessed by a flight of steps and features a four-panel door sheltered by a simple cornice hood. A red brick double ridge stack runs along the roofline.

Nos. 4 and 6, a public house, formerly two separate properties, date to the 17th and 18th centuries. They are constructed with colourwashed roughcast over timber frame, with a significant portion of No. 4 rebuilt in the 20th century. The roofs are tiled. No. 4 is two storeys high, while No. 6 is one storey with attics. The windows are a variety of casements of differing sizes, with three windows on each floor of No. 4. No. 6 has two gabled dormers. No. 4 has a 20th-century open pediment doorcase and door, while No. 6 has a small panelled door, which is now out of use. The properties are included in the listing for group value.
