Description
This is a house located at 1 Stockbridge Road, with probable origins in the 17th century and later alterations in the 18th and 19th centuries. The structure is timber framed, with parts rebuilt and recased in brick, and some areas rendered, all of which is colourwashed. It features clay tile roofs and has a three-room plan across two storeys, with the gable end facing the road. The front elevation has a three-window range, with a canted bay on the right side of the ground floor and sash windows throughout, all featuring glazing bars. There is a flush panel door, with the top pair of panels glazed, situated under a gabled open porch supported by rustic timber. A red brick multiple ridge stack is located between the two left-hand bays, and there is another red brick stack on the east wall of the southern bay. At the rear, there is a single-storey addition from the 19th century, made of colourwashed brick and topped with a slate roof.
