Description

The garden monument located approximately 100 metres northwest of Ickwell Bury is a Grade II listed structure, likely erected around 1803 by Major John Harvey. It commemorates the raising of a Regiment of House Artillery, which included various military units in Bedfordshire. The monument is made of dressed limestone and takes the form of an obelisk that stands about 1.5 metres high. The south elevation features a sundial with an incised inscription that is difficult to read. The north elevation displays the arms of the regiment along with inscriptions, some of which indicate the ranges of various weapons.
