Description
Nos 2 and 4 Southill Road is a house that was formerly subdivided, dating from the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. It features timber framed construction with colourwashed plaster infill and a clay tile roof. The building has an L-plan layout, with the main block consisting of two storeys and a left-hand cross-wing that is partly one storey with attics and partly two storeys. The main block includes the earliest structure, which has close-studded timbering, while the right-hand bay of this block is from the 18th century. The cross-wing is from the 17th century. There is a variety of windows, mostly 20th-century replacements with glazing bars, and a 20th-century gabled open porch. The main block features a substantial brick multiple ridge stack with linked diagonal flues, as well as an external red brick gable end stack.
