Description

Nos 53 and 54 on High Street are a cottage from the Southill Estate, which was formerly subdivided. A plaque on the building indicates "S W 1802", but it likely includes elements from an earlier structure. The exterior features colourwashed roughcast over a timber frame and a thatched roof. The cottage has a three-room plan and consists of one storey with attics. On the ground floor, there are three 2-light leaded casement windows. The entrance is a plank door set in a simply moulded surround, topped with a gabled bracketed hood. There is one red brick double ridge stack and one red brick external stack on the west gable end.
