Description

Kitchenend Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, which has been significantly altered and extended in the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with vitrified headers that create a chequerwork pattern, and it features clay tile roofs. The building has a complex layout, with the main block rising to two storeys and attics, while other sections are also two storeys high.

On the south elevation, the taller left-hand part has brick coping on the gables, a moulded timber eaves cornice, and a brick band at the first-floor level. There are 19th-century two-light mullion and transom windows, with two on the ground floor and three on the first floor. The ground floor windows are set under cambered heads, while the first-floor windows are under gauged brick flat heads. The attic includes three 19th-century gabled dormers with two-light casements.

To the right, there is a 20th-century pedimented doorcase aligned with a 19th-century brick multiple chimney stack. The lower right-hand part of the farmhouse features a slightly projecting gable, a moulded timber eaves cornice, and a brick band at the first-floor level. The casement windows and French window in this section are of a similar style and date to those in the left-hand block, but they have moulded timber cornices on consoles, which appear to be from the same period as the front door.
