Description
This pair of headstones, made of limestone, is located approximately 15 meters south of the southeast angle of the south aisle of the Church of St Peter. Both headstones face east. The southern headstone commemorates Ann, the wife of Tho Edward of Croyden, who died on August 24, 1706. It features a roughly oval-shaped inscription panel surrounded by deeply carved foliate scrollwork, with the top cresting including a skull. The northern headstone marks the burial of Mary, the wife of John Tid, who was buried on May 27, 1700. She was the daughter of Thomas Edwards and Ann, his wife. This headstone bears the inscription "Such as I am so must you therefore prepare to follow," and is similarly adorned with deeply carved scrollwork, with cresting that includes a skull and cross-bones, a coffin lid, and an hour-glass.
