Description
A row of four headstones is located approximately 10 metres south of the east end of the chancel at the Church of St Peter. These headstones are loosely grouped and made of limestone, varying in size, all facing east. The details of the individual stones from north to south are as follows:
(i) The first headstone, marked "J.C. 1656," is fairly small with large lettering and features simple carved scrollwork cresting at the top.
(ii) The second headstone has an illegible name and dates to 1700. It displays fairly deeply carved scrollwork decoration on the sides and a foliate crest, which also includes a central skull and bones.
(iii) The third headstone is inscribed with "Daniel Dennis 1709" and features a Latin inscription. It has deeply carved scrollwork on the sides and a crest at the top composed of a putto head with outstretched wings.
(iv) The fourth headstone, marked "H.C. 1657," is similar to the first, being fairly small with large lettering and simple carved scrollwork cresting at the top.
