Description

Village Farmhouse, dating from the 17th century or earlier, has undergone reworking and extensions in the 19th century. Originally a timber-framed structure, it is now rendered with colourwashed roughcast, although later alterations incorporate brickwork, some of which is exposed while other sections are colourwashed or rendered. The roof is tiled in the 20th century on older parts and slate on later additions. The original building was likely a two-storeyed T-plan layout, with later additions to the west, north, and east.

The east elevation features a pair of projecting gables to the left, both faced in brick and each containing one window per floor. A central block has a catslide roof that slopes down to a single-storeyed section containing two part-glazed doors and one window. A two-storeyed brick addition is located to the right, with no windows. Most windows are sash windows with glazing bars, with a prominent red brick multiple ridge stack with rebuilt diagonal shafts aligned with the left-hand door. Additional red brick stacks, also rebuilt, are positioned between the two left-hand gables and at the junction with the right-hand block. The road elevation has a ground floor rebuilt in brick and a variety of sash and casement windows. An integral brick stack is located at the left-hand end.
