Description
The coach house and stable block belonging to The Old Rectory is an 18th-century structure with 19th-century alterations. It is primarily constructed of mottled red brick, with some repairs in yellow brick, and features clay tile roofs. The building is a two-storey rectangular block that borders the road, with the stable block being slightly taller than the coach house.
On the road elevation, there are only two small single lights and two ventilation holes. The north elevation shows the stable block on the left-hand side, which has two doorways on the ground floor and two hayloft doorways on the first floor, all with plank doors. The ground floor includes three single lights with glazing bars, while the first floor features two two-light leaded casements. The ground floor openings have cambered heads.
To the right is the coach house, which has three carriage arches of varying heights, all with cambered heads on the ground floor. Between the two left-hand arches is a two-light leaded casement window with a cambered head. The left-hand arch retains one leaf of double plank doors, and the first floor has a two-light window at the left end. The west gable end of the coach house has three rows of doveholes with landing platforms at the attic level. The building is included for its group value.
