Description
No. 10 Northbridge Street is a house that has been converted into commercial premises. It has origins dating back to the 17th century, with reworking and extensions added in the 19th century. The exterior is rendered and incised to imitate ashlar, which appears to encase a timber-framed building. The roof is tiled and dates from the 20th century. At the rear, there is a projecting block made of red brick from the 19th century. The front block is two storeys high with attics and has a two-room plan. The windows are symmetrically arranged but offset. On the ground floor, there are two 20th-century shop windows on either side of a plain doorway, which has a hood supported by cut brackets. The first floor features two sash windows with glazing bars. A substantial three-stage red brick chimney stack is located at the right-hand gable end, while there is a red brick integral stack at the left-hand gable end. The left gable end also has two small single lights, both of which are leaded, with one featuring a pointed head.
