Description

The Rectory, built around 1860, is a two-storey building with attics featuring Tudor detailing. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and has a plain clay tile roof. The structure includes two ridge groups of moulded neo-Tudor chimney flues and ornately carved scalloped-edge bargeboards.

On the south elevation, there is a west end slightly projecting gabled wing that displays the Higgins family crest at the apex of the gable. The main wing has a gabled dormer with carved bargeboards. The windows are primarily casements with stone surrounds, mullions, and geometric leaded lights, some of which have drip moulds. The ground floor features a central canted bay with a castellated parapet and geometric pattern cast iron lights. To the east of the bay is a 20th-century leaded casement that replaces the original doorway, above which is a niche containing a stone owl figure.

The east elevation also includes another family crest in the gable end. The first floor has a mock timber-framed appearance with red brick nogging arranged in geometric patterns, which oversails on small ornately carved corbels. The ground floor is plastered and has three recessed panels within architrave surrounds, with the right-hand panel containing a doorway.

To the north, there is a recessed wing with a hipped roof, featuring one gabled dormer with a two-light casement window that has pointed arched glazing bars. There is a similar first floor window to the right side, with a ground floor leaded light below it. To the left side, a tall staircase window is divided into 12 lattice leaded panes by stone mullions and transoms.
