Description
Rowan Cottage is a house dated 1740, as indicated by a plaque on the east gable end. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a steeply pitched roof with stone gable coping and moulded kneelers, which is now covered with Welsh slates. The cottage has a symmetrical three-window bay plan with the gable end facing the road and gable end chimney stacks. It is two storeys tall with attics.
On the south elevation, there are two 20th-century box dormer windows. The first floor includes three casement windows with glazing bars, two of which are three-light windows, while the central window is a two-light. The ground floor has two 20th-century bay windows flanking a central doorway. At the west end, there is a small two-light casement window with glazing bars. The east gable end features a single-storey lean-to made of coursed limestone rubble, topped with a 20th-century concrete tile roof. The east wall has been rebuilt in 20th-century stonework.
