Description
Ridge Cottage is a 17th-century cottage with 19th-century additions. The original western block is timber-framed and has a rough cast finish, while the 19th-century eastern block is built of colour-washed brick. Both have old clay tile roofs. The cottage is two storeys high. Most of the windows are diamond-leaded casements; one window in the west wing is a 2-light horizontal sash, also with leaded glass. The 19th-century eastern elevations feature a central glazed front door, two 3-light casements with wood mullions and transoms on each floor, ground floor openings under cambered heads, two brick integral gable end stacks, and decorative ridge cresting of unknown origin. A single-storey lean-to extension is situated at the rear of the eastern wing.
